Stage Door Junior Music Theatre Course



The Junior/SeniorMusic Theatre Course takes place on Mondays after school from 4pm till 7pm and on Saturdays usually from 10am till 1pm. On occasion there are extra rehearsals and performances that will be timetabled and notified. All dates are in line with Education Department School Term dates with no classes on the last weekend of each term or long weekend holidays.

Fees $2,200 each year – 36 weeks + (5hrs minimum) / year, part time (after hours) payable per semester.
Juniors 7 yrs - 11yrs , Seniors 12 - 15 yrs (If numbers become too large – classes are split).

TIMETABLE For those in the Junior/Senior Music Theatre Course, the Production Rehearsals start on Saturday 8th February 2020 and Classes commence Monday February 10th, 2020 – 4pm till 7pm for all years.
Acceptance is after interview and possible audition.

Course Content – One hour of each class of 3 – 6 hours per week (including Saturday free production workshop class) for 18 weeks maximum per Semester.

Acting – the basics of acting and guidance with monologue technique, script analysis, character analysis, stage movement. Improvisation. (Ihr/wk)

Repertoire Class – New song material suitable for audition. Developing interpretation of different styles. Historical learning by composer, Music theatre history and iconic musicals. (1hr/wk)

Modern and Jazz Dance – 1hr/wk)

Junior/Senior Music Theatre Productions. From time to time Stage Door will present a Musical (most recently Oliver, Bugsy Malone, Wizard of Oz 2020 ) and all fee paying students are automatically involved if they wish. Non course participants join at a fee. Audition is required for casting purposes only.

Children joining the course during the term will be charged pro rata. Note that the Saturday morning classes are free for course participants. However, those who only do Saturday morning production class, pay for that aspect ($660 per semester, fully payable on registration).

Certificates of completion are presented on a presentation evening.

Payment must be made as arranged and on the first class for student to start classes. There are various means of payment acceptable including credit card debit on a monthly basis for 8 payments (from March 1), after $500 plus GST, deposit and first payment. These are the only options. Payment by class is not accepted.

Classes start February 10th 2020

Dates are in line with Public school terms with no classes on holiday weekends or term holidays.

Full fees are payable if students withdraw from the Course for whatever reason. This includes the option of time payments
