Stage Door Music Theatre Course/WACE

Year 11 and 12 students from 2017
$4,400 each year – 22 classes (5hrs/wk)/year, part time (after hours) 12 places maximum
Acceptance after interview and audition.

THIS COURSE IS ALSO AVAILABLE FOR NON WACE CANDIDATES

Course Content – One hour each class of 5/wk – 11 classes per Semester. (Two)

Acting – the basics of acting and guidance with monologue technique, script analysis, character analysis, stage movement.

Improvisation – Improvisation technique and how to broaden your thoughts. Working in teams.

Repertoire Class – New song material suitable for audition. Developing interpretation of different styles. Historical learning by composer, Music theatre history and iconic musicals.

Music Skills – Basic keyboard technique, music theory and Aural work.

Modern and Jazz Dance – or other of own choice.

Performance – Participation in performance is required during the course.


Other opportunities for participation in group work or plays and musicals will arise and are optional but encouraged. Once students enrol for a full time course they have free access to all other classes at Stage Door, after approval and arrangement with the Director.

Fees are payable per Semester @ $2,200 (inc GST) on the first class of each Semester of which there are two per year. Certificates are presented only on full payment of fees. A $550 non refundable deposit is payable on application.

This Course is registered as a WACE Course and it is necessary to attend all classes as timetabled. The only means of failure is non attendance. To satisfy WACE requirements 90% attendance is required and strictly adhered too by Stage Door School.

Schools are notified of the student’s attendance and registration is carried out by the school having supplied Stage Door school with the WACE Student number. On completion of the Stage Door Course students are granted full marks for this subject.

Stage Door Junior Music Theatre Course

Year 6 – Year 10 inclusive, from 2017
$2,160(plus GST) each year – 36 weeks + (5hrs) / year, part time (after hours)
30 places maximum

Acceptance after interview and possible audition.
APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE AT INTERVIEW

Course Content – One hour of each class of 5 – 5 hours per week for 18 weeks per semester.

Acting – the basics of acting and guidance with monologue technique, script analysis, character analysis, stage movement. Improvisation. (Ihr/wk)

Repertoire Class – New song material suitable for audition. Developing interpretation of different styles. Historical learning by composer, Music theatre history and iconic musicals. (1hr/wk)

Modern and Jazz Dance – or other of own choice in Stage Door timetable.(1hr/wk)

Junior Music Theatre Rehearsals – participation in musical per semester, with a number of performances.(2hr/wk min), Plus as required.

The Course takes place on a day to be advised after school from 4pm till 7pm and on Saturdays from 11 till 1pm. On occasion there are extra rehearsals and performances that will be timetabled and notified.

All dates are in line with Education Department School Term dates with no classes on the last weekend of each term or long weekend holidays.

Please note. Other opportunities for participation in group work or plays and ICW Production musicals will arise and are optional but encouraged and course children will be given preference if taking part or are suitable when auditioning.

Children joining the course during the term will be charged pro rata. Note that the Saturday morning classes are free for course participants. However, those who only do Saturday mornings pay for that aspect.

Fees are payable per Semester @$1080 (plus GST) on the first class of each Semester of which there are two per year. Certificates of completion are presented on a presentation evening. A non refundable deposit of $550 is payable on application after interview.
